Known as Cecil at the age of 74 years he was awarded a Life Membership of the RSL for his service to the organisation and his commuity spirit.  He served on the executive of the Saddleworth sub branch of the RSL as a committee member 1947 to 58, 1967 to 71, 1978-79,1985-6,  Vice President 1959-62,1973-75,1981-82, 1987-91, As President 1976-77,  Pension Officer 190-91.  He also served as a Saddleworth delagate to the State Branch Conference in 1980-84, 1990-91.  He was a supporter of Legacy from 1990 to 92. 

Cecil served on the District Council Saddleworth 1968 to 1985, serving a Chairman from 1982 to 85.  He was President 1969-72 and Secretary 1950 to 53 of the Marrobel Rodeo.
