Sergeant Joseph Clifford Walkley (Service Nos:S36221/SX26926) initially served in the ACMF (1 October 1941 - 19 November 1942) as a Private attached to AAPC and TTSC, tranferring to the AIF on 20 November 1942 as a Corporal attached to 5 Advanced Ordnance Depot. Sergeant Walkley served in New Guinea (24 June 1945 - 1 April 1946) with 1 Australian Cinema Unit NG Details, and was Discharged on 16 April 1946.
Clifford was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1920, eldest of three children of Joseph Roy Walkley (b1890 in Hindmarsh, South Australia) and Ellen (Nell) May Clifford (b1891 in Adelaide, South Australia). Joseph and Nell married in 1919 in Adelaide, where they settled and raised their family and Joseph was a Bootmaker.
Clifford completed his studies at The University of Adelaide, worked as a Licensed Motion Picture Projectionist and was a Theatre Manager in Adelaide when he enlisted in the Army in 1941. Following his Discharge, in Sydney in 1950, Clifford married Maria Margarita Haertsch (b1924 in Sydney, New South Wales) - Maria was working in Coogee as a Secretary. Clifford and Maria lived overseas and in Sydney, where they raised their family and Clifford was a Theatre and Company Manager. Clifford died in 2002 and Maria died in 2019.
