Sergeant Clarence Edward Loveday Roberts (Service No:SX26826) initially enlisted in the ACMF as a Private (Service No:S31300) attached to Australian Army Ordnance Corps. Sergeant Roberts enlisted in the AIF on 17 November 1942 and was attached to 115 Australian Brigade Workshop at Discharge on 6 May 1945.

Born in 1906 at Rose Park in Adelaide, South Australia, Clarrie was third of ten children of Sydney Dean Roberts (b1878 at Dublin, South Australia) and Ellen Frances Emily Rose (b1881 at Reedbeds, South Australia). Sydney (a Labourer) and Ellen married in 1901 at Windsor, South Australia and lived in Adelaide, Long Plains, Balaklava, Mallala and Medindie where they raised their family and Sydney worked as a Labourer.

Clarrie worked as a Mechanic and Motor Driver and in 1934 in Port Adelaide married Anne Elizabeth Matthews (b1910 at Port Adelaide, South Australia). Clarrie and Anne lived at Strathalbyn in the Adelaide Hills where they raised their family and Clarrie worked as a Motor Driver. Clarrie died in 1976 and Anne in 1989.
