Both Sisters Desma Ryan Fairfax (left) and Olive Croser served with the Australian Army Nursing Service from 1940 – 1946 and both returned to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Sister Fairfax worked at the RAH from 1935 – 1960. After her army nursing service, Sister Fairfax returned to the McEwan Operating Theatres, and later was in charge of Sturt Ward.
