Son of Mr and Mrs T DEACON of Richmond. Sydney was married with one child and resided at 17 Princes Street, Adelaide. He had been educated at Richmond Public School and gained his Q.C. He followed all sport, but particularly football, playing in the S.A. State School team in Sydney in 1923, and later for several seasons for Richmond West Team. In 1930 he was awarded the medal for most consistent player. In civilian life he worked as a lorry driver for Guerin, Marine Store Dealer and then at Cooper's Brewery.
