WW2

Mannum RSL and the local community held a service at the Mannum War Memorial late in Aug 2020 to commemorate the end of WW2. As a part of the ceremony the local Member for Barker electorate Mr Tony Pasin MP presented commemorative medallions to the last 6 surviving WW2 veterans - of the 756 personnel who enlisted from the town and local area. The members who received the medallions are :

John Murray Chandler - now 101.5 years old, born 21 Jan 1919 who served with the 4th Field Battery Battalion in New Guinea.
Keith Charles Lowe - now 97 years old, born 29 May 1923 who served with the 75th AA Battery Battalion at Morotai New Guinea.
Erica Anna Temme - now 95 years old, born 28 Dec 1924 who served with the 21st Aust Gen Hosp.
Rhonda Frick - now 95 years old, who served with the #6 Service Flying Training School at Mallala SA.
Irene Cowley - now 85 years old, who served at HMAS Rushcutter.
June Hunter - now 95 years old, who served with #1 Flying Boat Repair Depot at Lake Boga.
