Glyn Walkley served in New Guinea in the transport and fought the Japanese there. He came down with malaria and also contracted ptomaine poisoning. He was transfered back to Sydney into the entertainment section. His officer was the actor Peter Finch.
After the war he joined the South Australian Housing trust. He made friends woth several police officers and joined the SA Police club.
He started a monthly lunch club with Peter Warmen and Ralph Tremethic. This became popular and guest speakers started to attend. After years of organising these lunches the guest list became a who's who. Guest speakers and guests from around the world attended these lunches. He comunicated with Royalty, Heads of state,, business leaders, State Premiers and Prime Ministers
William Glyn Walkley received an Order of Australia award from the Queen for his public service. I am so proud of my father. - Owen Walkley
