Gnr Reevel Alderson was born in Sunderland, Durham, England, to John and Mary Ann Alderson. He enlisted in the AIF on 13 June 1942 and in June 1945 was sent to Morotai. On 27 September 1945 he was evacuated to the 2/5 Australian General Hospital and on 19 December 1945 was medically evacuated from Morotai for return to the mainland. Gnr Alderson was aboard an RAAF aircraft which was then reported missing between Ambon and Darwin. He was officially listed as missing in January 1946 and in August 1946 was confirmed as presumed deceased. His name is memorialised on Column 6 of the Ambon Memorial, Maluka, Indonesia.
