Military Medal
'On the night 11th/12th August, 1918, during operations on the SOMME, near PROYART, this man, although wounded early in the operation refused to be evacuated and persisted in carrying the Lewis gun to the final objective where he thought he could make good use of it, but had to be carried out owing to exhaustion through loss of blood. By his action he displayed to his comrades a splendid sense of devotion to duty.'
