Son of Mr. and Mrs. William LAWLOR of 3 Angle Street, Solomontown, SA.  William was educated at Solomontown Public and High Schools and took an interest in football, cricket and running.  In civil life he was with thie Commonwealth Railways prior to enlisting in March 1942.  His father saw 4 1/2 years' service in the Great War.
