Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Driver David William Mollison (Service No:29753) enlisted in the AIF on 24 May 1916 and was attached to 119th Howitzer Battery when he embarked with his Unit from Melbourne for Plymouth on board HMAT A60 Aeneas on 3 October 1916. Driver Mollison served in France, and embarked from England for Melbourne on 1 April 1919 on board HT Shropshire. He was attached to 4th Division Ammunition Column at Discharge on 14 July 1919.

David was born at Numurkah, Victoria in 1891, second of six children of John Mollinson (b1842 in Sydney, NSW) and his second wife Eleanor Medwick (b1862 in Kilmore, Victoria). John (a Widower) was working as a Boardinghouse Keeper when he and Eleanor married in 1887 at Euroa in Victoria. John and Eleanor settled in Numurkah, where they raised their family and John worked as a Labourer. In 1896 the family moved to Katamite following receipt of a land grant under the Katamatite Village Settlement Scheme. Following John's death in 1903, the land was transferred to Eleanor, but in 1904 she had to relinquish it and move to Melbourne, where she died in 1911.

David worked as a Labourer in Melbourne where, in 1916 he married Phoebe Jane Turner (b1881 in Rosedale, Tasmania). Following David's Discharge from the Army, he and Phoebe settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and David worked as a Driver and Linesman with the Postmaster General's Department. David died in 1969 and Phoebe in 1971.
