Edward (Ted) Horsell

Ted was born in Streaky Bay, South Australia and grew up on the family farm at Chandada. Along with brothers (Jack, Allen & Bob) enlisted in Australian Army, posted to New Guinea to defend against the Japanese. He told the story of being relieved from his guard duty post early by a mate. Away from the ammunition dump that he had been guarding it was hit by a Japanese mortar, killing his mate. (He used to lament that it should have been him).

Ted never married and passed away in 2002 in Oaks Nursing Home, Mount Gambier and was laid to rest in Robe Historical Cemetry: Catholic, Section Lawn, Plot 19.
