Military Cross awarded in 1917 while serving with the 101st Howitzer Battery, 1st Field Artillery Brigade: "Noreuil, France, 16 April 1917, 'Consistent fine example of coolness and steadiness under fire.'" Also served in World War II (AMF until 1943). Promoted to Lieutenant 27 February 1917.
Military Cross
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At great personal risk he extinguished a fire which broke out in an ammunition dump. He has at all times set a splendid example of courage and determination.'
