Son of Mrs F RANSFORD and the late Mr GILLMAN, of Chatham Street, Adelaide.  Residing at 17 Arthur Court, Adelaide, Richard was fond of sport and played football and in civilian life he conducted a paper stall in Adelaide for several years.  He enlisted in January 1942.
