Wally Bailey was a much loved husband to Jean who he married 2 weeks before he left for his start of service. On return he had 2 daughters. Patricia 1947 and Kathryn 1949. 4 grandaughters and 1 grandson. He was a respected leading hand at Thompson and Harvey as a glazier and talented leadlighter. He joined the army as he felt it was his duty to do his bit. He seldom talked about his time in the army. He always went to the ANZAC day reunions but did not march until he noticed the numbers going down and loved the fact his family came and watched him and went to the service after. He took his wife and daughters to a few services put on by his unit. The blessing of their flag and a turn out of the Matilda tank he drove. Unfortunately his service, in the end, led to him having a shorted life due to lung problems.
