Private Kenneth John Stephens (Service No:SX15147) enlisted in the Australian Army on 10 November 1941. He served with 3rd Field Training Unit, General Details Depot and 3rd Artillery Training Unit and was at 6 Australian Detention Barracks when he was Discharged on 31 December 1943.

Born in 1915 in Melbourne Victoria, Ken was the third of six children of Albert Denithorn Stephens (b1890 in Tower Hill, Victoria) and Winifred Hope McKay (b1893 in Melbourne, Victoria). Albert (an Assembler) and Winifred married in 1910 in Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Albert was a Painter and Decorator.

Ken worked as a Labourer in Melbourne, and was a Painter and Decorator in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army in Adelaide, South Australia. Following his Discharge, Ken was a Patternamker in Melbourne in 1953 when he married Nancy (Nance) Lillian Holmes (b1930 in Melbourne, Victoria). Ken and Nance settled in Melbourne where Ken worked as a Painter and Decorator. Ken died in 1977 and Nance in 2017.
