Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Constance (Connie) began her training at Maitland Hospital, transferring to the Adelaide Hospital and graduating in 1937.

While awaiting call-up for the Australian Army Nursing Service she completed her midwifery training at the Women's Hospital in Melbourne.

After call up early in 1941, Connie was attached to the camp hospital at Larrimah, Northern Territory. The hospital was located on 'Elsey Station', of "We of the Never Never" fame. While at Larrimah Connie met her future husband Bob Tanner. They married at 'Elsey Station' in 1943 and in February 1944 Connie was discharged. She and Bob made their home in Tasmania, where they raised a family.
