Son of Mr and Mrs C.G. PAIN of Port Pirie.  Married and residing at 67 Balmoral Road, Port Pirie, George was educated at Solomontown Public and Port Pirie High Schools.  He was interested in lacrosse and swimming.  Employed as a bank clerk in civilian life, he enlisted in October 1941.
