One of five brothers who served in WWII, Private Alfred Harold Morris (Service No:SX14135) enlisted in the AIF on 19 August 1941, serving with 9th Armoured Regiment until 11 December 1944, when he was marched out to HQ 1 Australian Sub Base Area (ASBA). Private Morris served in Morotai (10 May 1945 - 4 January 1946) and was attached to HQ 1 Australian Sub Base Area at Discharge on 6 March 1946.
Alf was born at Port Lincoln, South Australia in 1915, eighth of eleven children of Edmund (George) Henry George Morris (b1869 in Modbury, South Australia) and Elizabeth Sabina Kempster (b1879 in Keilli, South Australia). George and Elizabeth married in 1897 in Kadina, and lived in Keith, Wallaroo, Port Lincoln, Medindie and Adelaide, where they raised their family and George was a Stonemason.
A Woodcutter in Keith Town via Murray Bridge in 1941 when he enlsited in the Army, Alf was a Labourer in Adelaide in 1949 when he married Carolyn (Glad) Gladys Myrtle Morris (b1908 at Murray Bridge, South Australia). Alf died in 1985 and Glad in 2008.
