Biography

Lloyd Kitchener Renown VENABLES was born in Laura, SA on 22nd February, 1921

His parents were Francis Edgar VENABLES and Agnes Jane BOWEN who married in SA in 1916

He enlisted on 16th August, 1941 with the Australian Army (Service No SX14094) - He was Discharged on 13th March, 1946 - Rank was a Lance Corporal with the 2/9th Armoured Regiment

On 7th December, 1946 he married Vivienne Gail RAHALEY in the Baptist Church, Laura, South Australia

Lloyd died on 22nd March, 1983 in Aireys Inlet from burns received in the Ash Wednesday bushfires while he was trying to save his house - he is buried in Altona Cemetery in Victoria in the Court of Tranquility
