James joined the RSL at the West Croydon sub branch in 1943 and in 1946 transferred to the Saddleworth sub branch.  He was president of Saddleworth over three periods 1950 -56, 1957-62 and 1967-69.  He served a vice president in 1950, 1965 and again 1967.  He was also a committee man for many years including 1955, 56,63,645,65,66,73,76,77,78,79. His services also included the roll of Pension Officer 1971 to 79 and War Veterans Liaison Officer 1961 to 69.  RSL has many regional areas and James served as a delegate on the Mid North Sub Branches Conference from 1957 to 67. He was a co-organiser of the Barossa Valley RSL Seminar in 1979.  Michael dedication to the Returned Services community was rewarded with a Life Membership of the RSL 1979,  to say thankyou for your years of service.
