Son of Mr and Mrs F ETTRIDGE of 20 Princes Street, Adelaide (late of Streaky Bay). Educated at Ceduna School, James played football for the Maltee Club on the Eyre Peninsula and was a member of the 1939 Premiership team. He also competed in several cycling events at Mudamuckla and other Eyre Peninsula places. In civilian life he was engaged in farming on the Eyre Peninsula. He enlisted in May 1941 and left for the Middle East in October 1941 and has seen service in the Syrian Campaign.
