Eric was awarded a life membership from the RSL he was proposed by the Blackwood sub branch.  His work for the League included Committeeman 1959-60;  Pensions and Welfare 1965; 1968 - 78.  He was a hospital and sick members visitor even when in indifferent health himself. Strong supporter of the War Veterans Home. For fifteen years he was involved with the Blackwood junior Football Club as president, secretary and treasurer, assisting the youth of Blackwood and the district.
