Survivor
Ken Williams was a PoW on the Japanese hell ship Rakuyo Maru. It was sunk on 12 September 1944 by the US submarine Sealion II. Over 1,000 Australian and British PoWs were lost in the sinking. Ken Williams was rescued on 15 September 1944 by the US submarine Pampanito. He was one of 73 men rescued by that sub.
He returned home to Oakbank SA after debriefing and recovery.
