Pte Thomas Sheperd Carman, 2/6th AAMC, AIF of 75 Gladys Street Edwardstown. Aged 23. Son of Mrs I and the late A E Carman. Educated at Edwardstown Public School. Fond of cricket, tennis, football and played soccer for Kingswood, also member of several sporting clubs. Served some time in the Militia and then transferred to 2/6th in January 1941. Trained in South Australia and Darwin then to Victoria, and while at Heidelburg he broke his arm. During convalescence poison set in and he was discharged from AIF and joined Home Defence. On 3rd November 1942 while swimming at Ivanhoe, Victoria he was seized with cramp and before assistance could be brought he drowned.
