Family Remembers
I remember Great Uncle Les as a little girl. A quiet, somber man not given to stories. My father used to say that he didnt speak much, and I guess having fought in and survived both World Wars he probably didnt need to.
Great Uncle Les enlisted in the 11th Lighthorse and saw action in Gallipoli and Egypt, engaged in the flanking manoeuvre during the famous Battle of Beersheba, he was injured in Egypt and repatriated to Australia, he then enlisted again for the WW2. Little is known and now father has died, there are no more stories, but I’ll keep searching.
