Son of Mr and Mrs J.A. OATWAY OF Richards Street, Hindmarsh. Married and residing at 2 Nile Street, Hindmarsh, Alfred was educated at Hindmarsh Public School, followed all sport and was fond of racing. In civilian life he was a waterside worker at Port Adelaide and Outer Harbour until he enlisted in December 1940. His father served in the Great War.
