Biography

Pte. Robert Hillman 2/27th Batt. AIF of Yumali aged 31. Son of Mr and Mrs C Hillman of Yumali. Educated at Roby School where he was a brilliant scholar. Fond of sport interested in football cricket and hunting. A farmer in civil life and very fond of horses and dogs. Enlisted in 2nd AIF in August 1940 and sailed for overseas on February 4th 1941. Served through the Syrian campaign and returned to Australia in March 1942. Reported killed in action in New Guinea on September 8 1942.
