Son of Percy Duncan and Alice Emily FERGUSSON of 9 Prosser Avenue, Norwood, SA.
Husband of Margaret Mary FERGUSSON of Milang, SA. Educated at Marryatville Public School and gained his Q.C. he followed all outdoor sports. In civilian life he spent several years at hotel work in various places in South Australia including Adelaide, Renmark, Strathalbyn and Loxton. At the time of enlisting in July 1940, aged 22 years, he was a barman at the Aurora Hotel in Adelaide. William trained at Wayville and Woodside and embarked in December 1940 for the Middle East. He served seven months in Tobruk and later transferred to Syria, Palestine and Egypt.
