Son of John Edgar & D I AMOS of 47 Nelson Street, Stepney, SA. Educated at Woodville in civilian life he was employed by his father, a greengrocer, with his round principally in Gawler. Enlisting in September 1940, Jack trained at Wayville and left Australia for the Middle East in December 1940. He fought through the campagin to Tobruk, and then went to Palestine and was attached to HQ 9th Division. His father is also a member of the 2nd/8th Field Ambulance and was taken prisoner of war in Italy.
