Son of Mrs. A and the late George WOOD of Price, SA.  Laurence followed outdoor sport and played cricket, golf, football and tennis.  He was captain for three years for Price Club, and also played cricket for the same club.  For many years he worked at the Ocean Salt Extended Wors at Price and then went to WA and worked in mining for 1 1/2 years.
