Sergeant R.H.G. Haggerty
My Grandfather, Roy, was 40 years old upon signing up in 1940 in Adelaide. Originally his Battalion, the 2/43rd was ear marked to join with the Australian 8th Division. Luckily enough, the Battalion was sent to North Africa to join the famous Australian 9th Division. My Grandfather was to become a 'Rat of Tobruk' I am one very proud Grandson... Also an ex serving member of our county's Defence Forces... I served 27 years in the Royal Australian Navy.
