Educated at Thebarton Technical School, Ronald enjoyed playing cricket and in civilian life worked as a storeman at Austral Sheetmetal Works for several years.  He enlisted in June 1940 and trained at Cheltenham.  He has served in and taken part in many actions in the Middle East and Syrian Campaign.
