Bertram was my great grandfather, he lived in a small cottage in Magill with his wife Eileen and his children. My Nanna was one of those children.
My most significant memories of him (I called him Pop Pedder) are walking into his lounge room to see him sitting in his chair, eating dark chocolate and drinking alcohol, which he said were his key to long life. Considering he lived to 101 I guess he was right about that.
His lawn was always green and his cacti always blooming, and let me tell you they bloody hurt if you touched them. When pop pedder was 90, the council tried to take his ladder away from him, but he wouldn't part with it.
