Vernon Howard Rayson

Vern enlisted on 17th June 1940. He served in the Middle East, Egypt, Tobruk, and in the battle of Alamein. He was discharged on 16th August 1944 after 1326 days, and suffered from Malaria when he arrived back from New Guinea.

Vern married Lillian Pratt. They had three children Shirley, Maureen and Phillip. After the war Vern worked for four years in an orchard at Hahndorf connected to the Glen Ellen Cannery.

In 1950 he moved to Naracoorte and the Kalangadoo area and was involved in farming. In the latter years of his life Vern lived at Campbelltown.

He passed away while on holidays at Naracoorte on 22nd May 1976. Lillian passed away August 1982.
