Son of Mr and Mrs J.W. MULLIGAN of Capetown, South Africa. James was married with two daughter and resided at 32 David Street, Port Pirie prior to enlistment in November 1940. He was a platelayer in civil life for the South Australian Railways. He has two brothers in teh South African Fighting Forces. James saw action in the Middle East, Palestine, Egypt and Syria.
