Glenelg Minister's
Son Killed in Action
"Advice has been received by the Rev. W. Hawke. minister of the Glenelg Congregational Church, and Mrs. Hawke that their younger son. L.-Cpl. Alaric  Hawke. was killed in action on July 7.
He was born at Medindie on June 15 1909, and enlisted in May, 1940, with his brother. L.-Cpl. William Hawke. They left Australia in October. Educated at Grange Public and Woodville High Schools, L.-Cpl. Hawke was a member of the statf at General Motors-Holden's until his enlistment.
He played hockey for Grange, and was chosen to go to Brisbane with the interstate team. The two brothers formed the Holdfast Bay Hockey Club in 1934, and Alaric was captain of the first team.
