Son of Mrs S.C. and the late John SMITH, of Truro,  SA.

Educated at Athenna School, West Coast, he gained his Q.C. and was interested in tennis, football and cricket. Very fond of music, he was a good musician and was a member of the Orroroo Methodist Church Choir.  In civilian life he was with the S.A. Railways and stationed at Orroroo when he enlisted in March 1940.  Bruce sailed for overseas in December 1940.
