Family story
My mother inlaw Valerie O'Brien who was married to Edward Patrick O'Brien Ivans younger brother. Told me that Ivan desperately wanted to enlist in the army to go to war, but he had a club foot. He eventually enlisted as a cook and was posted to Libya. As the german push was getting stronger and more soldiers were needed he was enrolled in the signal corps. He was subsequently killed in action in Libya
