Eldest son of Mr and Mrs C.J. WILLIAMS of 45 William Street, Hawthorn, SA. Educated at Unley Public School in civilian life he was with the S.A. Ambulance Service Unley Branch for several years. Enlisting in May 1939, John trained at Woodside and departed Australian in December 1940. He was active service in Syria and then transferred to teh 2nd Australian General Hospital until his return to Australian in April 1942, later serving in Australia.
