Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Mrs Sarah EDGECOMBE fmly BOWDEN nee WAKEFIELD and the late John Trevorrah BOWDEN of Moonta, SA.  Married with four children, Clarence resided at 6 Glanton Street, West Hindmarsh.   Educated at Moonta Public School he played most outdoor sports including tennis for Preston Club for several years and also for Meridon Club winning the mixed doubles championship.   In civilian life he worked as a spray painter at Holdens for several years, then transferred to Richards from where he enlisted in June 1940. Clarence left Australian in October 1940 and saw service in Syria.  From his headstone details at West Terrace Cemetery he appears to have put his age down by 6 years to enlist.
