Richard Horace was born on 14 February 1919 in Woodville, South Australia, Australia. To Horace and Hilda POPE. He had one older brother. Richard enlisted in the Australian Army on 20th May 1940 and was placed into 2/7 FIELD REGIMENT after basic training he was shipped out overseas he obtained the rank of Bombardier. Richard died on 1 November 1942 in Egypt at the age of 23, and was buried there.
