Maxwell Raglus Colbey was born at Crafers, the eigth and youngest child of Charles Hammond and Annie Elizabeth (PRICE) COLBEY.
He married Irma Myrtle Ethelwyn DeLaine 7 September 1940 at St John's Church, Adelaide.
Irma Colbey died 1 December 1981 and Max died 1 August 1988. They did not have children.
