Wilber Thomas Schram was an Australian soldier who served in World War 1 from 1916-1919. He enlisted and served in Australia’s 27th infantry battalion under the 17th reinforcement for four years.

He was born in Broken Hill, New South Wales in 1892 and lived on Mullocks street. His occupation was a labourer before he enlisted in the military, having no prior military experience. His mother was Emma Susannah Edwards, a widow and he also has two sisters. He was single when he enlisted. He was religious and identifies as a member of the Church of England. His height is 176cm and he weighs 71kg. He has grey eyes and brown hair.

He went to get enlisted in Adelaide on the 24th of August 1916 at the age of 24 and 8 months. Between 24th of August and 6th of November, he was vaccinated for typhoid and other diseases and was passed series of medical examination before embarkation. From Adelaide, he embarked on HMAT Afric A19 on the 6th of November 1916. From 1916 to 1919, Wilber served as a private in the 27th battalion. He was lightly wounded (in the stomach) at the battle of the Menin Road on 20th September 1917 and away from his unit for a month. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 9th August 1918, during the battle of Amiens, and wounded again on 30th August 1918, this time in the thigh.

On the 13th of July 1919, he returned to Australia and on the 4th of October 1919, he was discharged from the military. He survived the war and returned to Adelaide.
