Biography

Pte Floyd Wallace Wylie 2/33rd AIF of 7 Birdwood Ave Frewville. Aged 31. Son of Mr and Mrs H A Wylie of Frewville. Educated at Parkside (QC). Followed all sport. Interested in horse racing and competed with his horses at Far Northern Stations. A glass beveller by trade and later went on to northern South Australia working on various stations. Enlisted in AIF in March1940. Left for England in May 1940 and afer six months went to Middle East, Palestine and syria. Took part in fighting in interior section and was killed in action on June 16 1941 at Iblis Saki and was buried at Damascus.

His father, Pte. H A Wylie fought in the Great War (5thPioneer Batt.) wounder at Ypres, invalided to Australia in May 1918 and was discharged in June 1918.
