Son of Mr and Mrs H. OATLEY of 21 Miller Street, Prospect.

Married to Jean OATLEY of 14 Hocking Street, Brompton, SA with three children, he was educated at Brompton Public School and followed all sport particularly racing.  In civilian life he was for several years employed by the Imperial Chemical Company at St Kilda SA and then transferred to Osborne.  He enlisted in June 1940 and left Australia for the Middle East late in 1940.
