Private Frank Jenkins (Service No:SX2349) enlisted in the AIF on 11 April 1940 (graded Blacksmith), and was attached to 2 Railway Construction Coy RAE when he embarked with his Unit from Melbourne for Liverpool on 8 January 1941 on board HMT Stratheden. Older brother - Private William Roy Jenkins (Service No:SX2502) -  enlisted on 30 April, and the brothers embarked together. Private Jenkins served in the Middle East with 2 Railway Construction Coy RAE (graded Fitter) from 8 Januray 1941 to 9 March 1943, and was hospitalised when he severed his left thumb. Private Jenkins was attached to 2 Railway Construction Coy at Diasharge on 14 September 1943 (Medically Unfit).

The seventh of eight children, Frank was born in Fullarton in Adelaide, South Australia in 1904 to William Jenkins (b1865 in Wallaoroo, South Australia) and Edna Mary Charlotte Stutley (b1871 at Gawler Plains, South Australia). William and Edna married in 1891 in Adelaide, where they settled and raised their family and William was a Lavourer.

Frank worked as a Blacksmith, and served seven years with the Militia (NAA) before WWII. In 1925 in Adelaide, Frank married his first wife Violet Jones (b1907 in Morphett Vale, South Australia). Frank and Violet settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Frank worked as a Blacksmith. Following Violet's death in 1961, Frank remarried in 1962 in Adelaide to Myrtle (Dolly) May Dent (nee Knott; b1920 in Adelaide, South Australia). Frank died in 1969 and Dolly in 2002.
