Three Australian servicemen were ambushed and murdered by Indonesian rebels 30 miles south of Buitenzorg, Java, NEI on the 17th of April 1946 (now known as Bogor, West Java province, Indonesia)

They were investigating the fate of Australian servicemen in the area as members of the Australian War Crimes Investigation Unit / Prisoner of War Contact and Enquiry Unit
