Lance-Corporal P. R. (PERCY) POLGLASE, who was killed in action in France on October 3 last, was the youngest son of Mrs. I. and the late J. H. Polglase, of Moonta Mines, and was 30 years of age. He was of fine physique, and was very popular. He was born at Moonta Mines. After leaving school he was for 6½ years employed by Mr. W. C. Rowe, Moonta. About seven years ago he found employment in the clothing department of Goode, Durrant & Co.'s warehouse, Adelaide, and was subsequently manager of the clothing department of Sargood's, Perth. He then went to Robert Reid & Co., Queensland, where he enlisted in October, 1916. He spent his long leave at his old home at Moonta Mines in the following January, and left for the front in February. While at Moonta he identified himself with football and other sports. He was a member of the Commercial Travellers' Association. He was gassed about 11 months ago, and also wounded. The Rev. F. Morton held a service in his memory,and that of Band-Sergeant Darcy Reed (son of Mr. and Mrs. James Reed), in All Saints' Church, Moonta, on Sunday evening. The service was most impressive

Biography
Percy Roy POLGLASE was born on 26th September, 1888 at Moonta Mines, South Australia
His parents were John Henry POLGLASE and Isabel BLACKWELL
He had previous service for 2 years with the South Australian Infantry before he enlisted with the Australian Army - he was with the 25th Battalion, 19th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Wiltshire on 7th February, 1917
He was Killed in Action on 3rd October, 1918 - No known grave- he is honoured on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, the Australian War Memorial and also has a headstone in Moonta Cemetery in South Australia - Inscription "Eternal honour give to those who die"
