Big Grandad
Growing up I referred to my Grandad as Big Grandad, this was purely to distinguish which Grandad I was talking about. My sisters, brother and I called my Grandparents Big Grandad and Little Nana, and Big Nana and Little Grandad.
Big Grandad was on my Dad's side, I was the the favourite Grand daughter to my Granddad and I loved my Grandad more than anyone, well at least thats how I felt. I stayed at my Granddads house every school holidays, he taught me how to ride a bike, play cricket, and would explain how the new fax machine worked and would educate me on finances.
My Grandad always grew beautiful flowers and would pick bunches for me that were wrapped in foil at the bottom.
One year he made a rabbit mould for me for my garden - I though it was amazing.
We always watched the cricket, Faulty towers or the Olympics when it was on T V.
Visiting his house was always something I looked forward to.
In his later years I lived with my Grandad, he always told me I would make a wonderful wife and mother one day.
My Granddad believed in me, he was so proud when I graduated from University (Teaching) and took me shopping to choose and buy a watch, which I still have to this day.
My Grandad told me wars are terrible things, young men die and women lose their husbands.
My Grandad always wanted his family to be happy, he would always tell me your health and to be happy is everything in life.
My Grandad was a real Gentlemen he loved his family, he served his Community and his Country. I will always love my Grandad and am so blessed that he was my Grandad until we meet again in Heaven - I love you, now and forever, there will never be another like you Grandad,
Love Lauren
